Malik's Autumn Adaptogen Class

July 30th - August 22nd, 2019

Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30 pm - 7 pm
Taught by Malik Cotter, Doctor of Oriental Medicine/Acupuncture, Nationally Certified Herbalist, Owner of the Dragon's Den Makawao.

Adaptogen herbs and foods establish balance within our body, mind and spirit when the stresses of life have a health depleting effect upon us.  These herbs and foods have long been known for their tonifying and rejuvenating properties, bringing about a high level of health and wellness.

In this course, we will learn what these specific herbs and foods are, their therapeutic properties, how and when to use them, which herbs compliment adaptogens to enhance their specific actions, and how to make a herbal formula according to traditional Chinese medicine.  Some specific dysfunctions will also be covered that adaptogens are especially helpful with.

Be they mental/emotional stress or a physical body imbalance, adaptogens increase the body’s strength to resist dis-ease, modulate the immune system, restore hormonal balance, support metabolism, promote and maintain homeostasis, all while increasing one’s vitality.

CEU’s/PDA’s will be given, upon request, for those who complete the course and course work.

30 years ago a healthy person’s liver and immune system did quite well without having to do internal cleansing, fasting, taking herbs or nutraceuticals.  However today’s modern world is quite different.  There are more toxins and pollutants in existence than ever before, and now we need make a concentrated effort to truly cleanse and rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit.

In this course, the focus will be on our liver, blood and the immune system which are of major importance for continued health and vitality. These organs clear toxins from our body’s tissues, filters blood going to the heart, and protects our core energy from chemicals and viruses.

We will explore herbs, mushrooms, nutrition, lifestyle and natural medicines to help cleanse and rejuvenate our systems.  A cleanse program will be offered as our academic and experiential guide along with topics that relate to health.

This is a lively and informative course that will provide information to keep the body healthy and strong, the mind clear and fresh, while promoting a noble spirit.

Course is through EdVenture Maui and held at the UH Maui College campus.
